Established in 1858 by English immigrant Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell’s has been a constant in the Hunter Valley for more than 160 years, guided by the family motto: nothing is great unless it is good.
From humble beginnings, the family has purchased or leased many of the Hunter’s great vineyard blocks and, more recently, invested in the Heathcote region of Victoria. A small winery that once did 95 per cent of its business at cellar door in the early 1970s has grown into a medium-sized family business spread across Australia, exporting to most corners of the world.
Today, fourth-generation Managing Director Bruce Tyrrell AM leads the estate alongside the fifth generation, upholding the family philosophy of producing high-quality wine that people love to drink, as proud members of the Australian First Families of Wine.
