High above the distillery glides the golden eagle, protector and protagonist of this Highland house. The Ardmore is a peated single malt whisky shaped by a deep-rooted connection to the land, people and wildlife of its Scottish Highland home.
Founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, the distillery stands at the highest point of the Northern railway line, six hundred feet above sea level, close to the small village of Kennethmont. It was the railway that carried materials from Glasgow to this remote corner of Aberdeenshire, helping the distillery flourish.
Little has changed since. The water is still drawn from the naturally rising springs of the 1,500-foot Knockandy Hill — the power of nature gathered in every drop that travels from the distillery.
