Officially founded in 1790, Balblair is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Though the presentation of its single malts is highly contemporary, Inver House holds to an old-style, traditional way of making whisky, and Balblair has been producing award-winning Highland Single Malt Scotch since its first barrels were rolled out.
At Balblair, whisky is released only when it is ready. Each year, Distillery Manager John MacDonald selects whiskies that have reached their exact point of optimum maturation, the peak of perfection, creating Vintages timed to perfection.
The result is intriguingly complex and satisfying. Intense esters captured at the start of the spirit cut lend core characteristics of apricots, oranges, spices, floral notes and green apples, while the heavier oils at the end of the cut bring leathery, nutty, full-bodied depth.
