Jura
The only (legal) distillery operating on the island of Jura to the north of Islay. With less than 200 people living on the island, it's at the heart of their community and sits in the middle of Craighouse, the island's biggest town.
1984
Our 1984 vintage pays homage to the island's most distinguished guest, George Orwell, who penned his masterpiece of the same name right here on Jura. And with only 1,984 bottles ever crafted, we like to think the whisky we casked that year is a revolutionary classic in its own right. Rare and richly aromatic with hints of mulled wine, ginger and banana cake.
Color | Pure autumn gold |
Nose | Honey, vanilla, ginger, peach syrup and banana cake |
Taste | A hint of ripe pineapple, bitter chocolate and Morello cherries |
Finish | We reserved our very finest American white oak casks for this special liquid. However, as the years were crossed off the calendar and Orwell’s story became strangely prophetic, we transferred this exceptional year into specially selected Amoroso sherry casks for its final maturation. |
