Rémy Martin

Rémy Martin is a French firm that primarily produces and sells cognac (a brandy from the Cognac region of France). The brand specialises in Cognac Fine Champagne, which was originally produced by French winemaker, Rémy Martin. Founded in the early 1700s, Rémy Martin has grown to be one of the biggest Cognac houses in France. What sets it apart is its insistence on only using eaux-de-vie from grapes grown exclusively in the top two Cognac regions: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.

Upholding a Tradition Respecting a Style

This famous cognac’s house is first known for its fine Brandy. But it is also three centuries of history during which five generations have succeeded. In 1724, Remy Martin founded his own trading company. In the early nineteenth century, the cognac Grande Champagne Rémy Martin and the first cognac Fine Champagne Rémy Martin were created. Approximately at this time, the house’s emblem became the Chiron centaur. It represents the union between heaven and earth, but also between man and nature, symbol of all the know-how and excellence of the Remy Martin’s house.

The Art of Craftsmanship

It is also in the nineteenth century that was born the most famous cognac of this house, Louis XIII. It is made from grapes coming from the best Grande Champagne plots, the most famous production area in Cognac. The Louis XIII is a combination of about 1200 brandies, aged in oak barrels, called “tierçons”. These drums allow optimal exchange between air, brandy and oak. The “Louis XIII”’s bottle, is inspired by a metal flask, which was used in the sixteenth century by soldiers at the Battle of Jarnac.
